Duration Appointment: This is a regular position with 40 hours/Week schedule.

Summary: The U.S. Mission in Kathmandu, Nepal is seeking eligible and qualified applicants for position of Human Resources Assistant.

The work schedule for this position is:

Full Time, 40 hours per week

Supervisory Position: No

Relocation Authorized: No

Travel Required: Occasional Travel

Occassional travel for attending training may be required.


Under the direct supervision of the Human Resources Management Specialist, the incumbent serves as Training Coordinator and also delivers self-designed training courses to the Mission employees as part of the mission internal training program. The incumbent administers Health and Life Insurance program for the locally employed staff and Value Added Tax (VAT) refund program for the Mission and eligible American employees. The incumbent also serves as one of the two Mission Position Classification Advisors. The incumbent performs other HR duties as assigned.

Qualifications and Evaluations


EDUCATION: Completion of Bachelor’s Degree in Human Resources Management, Business Management or Social Sciences is required.


EXPERIENCE: A minimum of two years of progressively responsible experience in the field of human resources is required.

JOB KNOWLEDGE: Good knowledge of generally accepted practices and procedures pertaining to human resource management is required. Good knowledge of the organizational structure and bureaucratic practices of the host government offices is required.


LANGUAGE: Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing English is required. Level IV (fluent) Speaking/Reading/Writing Nepali is required. English language ability will be tested.

SKILLS AND ABILITIES: Good writing and presentation skills are required. The ability to use specialized software packages and various Windows based computer applications such as MS Word, MS Outlook, MS Excel and Power Point is required. Computer skills, writing skills and presentation skills will be tested.


All applicants under consideration will be required to pass medical and security certifications and complete a mandatory probationary period of one year for LE Staff.
